History

In 2021, two Idaho parents, Greg and Emily Young, launched a grassroots campaign to bring classical education to the Meridian community. Their dedicated efforts attracted several other parents who saw the value in their vision for a school that would cater to the holistic development of students. Scott Naugle joined the duo in 2022, and together, they continued to build community support for bringing a classical school to Meridian.

The school project received a boost when M3 Companies donated land in Kuna, providing a site for the school’s construction. In January 2024, a group of Kuna parents (Justine Edinger, Steffanie Empey, Sher Sears, Jenica Sjoberg, and Chad Titmus) teamed up with the Meridian founders, enhancing the school’s community base with diverse backgrounds and skills.

With the land secured and generous fellowships through the John Borbonus Memorial Foundation and the J.A. & Kathryn Albertson Foundation, two school leaders were brought on board in July 2024. Sean Hunter was selected as the founding principal of Valor Classical Academy, and Amber Orozco was selected as the assistant principal. The school leaders and their dedicated founding members continued community outreach efforts in the Kuna and south Meridian communities.
